Miriam Stegemann

Dr. Miriam Stegemann is a specialist in internal medicine and infectious diseases and serves as a senior physician and head of the Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Program at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. She has extensive experience in international collaborative projects addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and strengthening AMS, including longstanding partnerships between Charité and institutions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Her work includes AMS and AMR-related activities in fragile and conflict-affected settings, as well as capacity building in the clinical management of high-consequence infectious diseases (HCIDs) during outbreaks, with a focus on pandemic preparedness and health security, particularly in East African settings.

Her research focuses on translating evidence into clinical and laboratory practice under real-world conditions. Since 2023, she has served as an elected member of the supervisory committee to the board of the German Society of Internal Medicine.
