Dr Laurence Dobbie is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in General Practice at King’s College London, GP Registrar at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and clinical fellow in obesity medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He trained at the University of Glasgow and completed the Academic Foundation Programme at the University of Liverpool. Prior to his current post, he was a Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Obesity Medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, working across Tier 3 and Tier 4 weight management services and as Sub-Principal Investigator on major obesity pharmacotherapy trials. His research programme focuses on equitable delivery of evidence-based obesity care, using population health and epidemiological methods to understand ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in management. He has led European consensus work on safe practice in bariatric and metabolic surgery medical tourism and contributed to evidence-based guidance for GLP-1 receptor agonist management in primary care. His additional research interests include obesity pharmacotherapy, metabolic liver disease (NAFLD/MASLD), and PCOS.
