José M. Porcel is the Vice President of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine, Full Professor of Medicine, Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine, and Head of the Pleural Medicine and Clinical Ultrasound Unit at the University Hospital Arnau de Vilanova (Lleida, Spain). He is currently the Section Editor of the European Respiratory Journal, and Associate Editor of the European Respiratory Journal Open Research. His clinical and research interests focus primarily on pleural diseases, about which he has published extensively. He is a Master of the American College of Physicians (MACP), Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, London), Fellow of the European Respiratory Society (FERS), Fellow of the American Thoracic Society (ATSF), Fellow of the European Federation of Internal Medicine (FEFIM), and Fellow of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (FAPSR)
