Professor Cristian Baicus is Professor of Internal Medicine and Clinical Research/Clinical Epidemiology/Evidence-Based Medicine at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest. He is Head of an Internal Medicine Service at Colentina Clinical Hospital and Director of the Unit of Clinical Epidemiology, where he combines complex clinical care with methodological research and academic leadership.
His clinical practice centers on the management of systemic diseases and patients with multimorbidity, with a sustained interest in diagnostic reasoning under uncertainty. His research has addressed core topics in general internal medicine, including fever of unknown origin, involuntary weight loss, and shared decision-making in clinical practice.
Professor Baicus is a member of Cochrane Romania and is actively involved in evidence synthesis, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Engaged in undergraduate and doctoral education, he mentors medical students and PhD candidates in research methodology, critical appraisal, and the responsible integration of evidence into patient-centered care. Through his clinical, academic, and methodological activities, he advocates for a model of internal medicine grounded in both scientific rigor and pragmatic clinical judgment.
