Prof. Bernhard Ludvik, M.D. is Head of the 1st Medical Department for Diabetology, Endocrinology and Nephrology at the Landstrasse Clinic, Vienna, and directs the Karl Landsteiner Institute for Obesity and Metabolic Disorders. He is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna and a specialist in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology & Diabetology. Prof. Ludvik trained at the University of Vienna and UCSD (California) and previously served as vice chair of the division of Endocrinology at the Medical University of Vienna/AKH. A past president of both the Austrian Diabetes and Obesity Associations and president-elect of the Austrian Obesity Association, he is Editor-in-chief of Obesity Facts. He has co-/authored over 220 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 59, google scholar) and he and his team conduct phase 2/3 clinical as well as academic studies in diabetes, obesity, lipid disorders, and kidney disease.
