Nick Murch

Dr Murch’s has fostered an interest in both acute phase illness and medical education including simulation. His management and educational experience include having previously been the Clinical Lead for Acute Medicine at the Royal Free Hampstead, the Acute Medicine Training Program Director for North Central and East London and the current Trust-wide Head of Team-based simulation. Nick was a Royal College of Physicians Regional Specialty Advisor, sitting on the Specialty Advisory Committee, and successfully helping to write the Royal College of Physicians Higher Specialty training curriculum for Acute Medicine. Dr Murch also an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor with University College London Medical School.

Nick is the immediate past President of the Society for Acute Medicine, with his tenure finishing in 2025. At the same time, he was a member of the council of the Royal College of Physicians of London. Academically he sits on the editorial board for the Acute Medicine Journal, has numerous publications including a medical textbook, multiple book chapters and over 25 peer reviewed articles.

Outside of clinical medicine, I am considered an expert in applied medical expertise to ultramarathon medicine and ice swimming, as well as being an active participant and member of this community.
